So after being on this Keto diet for ~1.5 months, I’ve lost a solid 10 pounds. That’s a 1/2 a pound more than !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that would fit on my Fit weighs:
So how do I feel? I feel thinner. There are 2 shirts that were too tight to wear before that I now fit into again. And I now do my belt buckle one notch tighter.
I miss doughnuts, pizza and hamburgers. I was seriously tempted at times when there was pizza and doughnuts brought into the office at work.... but I have resisted.
When I started this, my blood pressure was a bit high and I was in the pre-diabetic danger zone.
I’m sticking with this until I achieve my 25 pound weight loss goal. I didn’t gain the 25 pounds overnight and I won’t lose it overnight either. But I figure I will have lost it by the time I have my follow up doctor visit in a few months.
And 22 pounds are about what the 15" steel wheels on my Fit weigh apparently.
Hmmm... If I’m willing to spend around US$1000 after shipping, I can reduce the weight of my Fit by about 50lbs... and have less unsprung weight...
Hmmm...

Awesome job man! If you lose half a pound a week that equates to 26 lbs a year!

Yeah... except I’ve been losing weight at a rate of about 1.6 lbs a week on average.
Though
I lost the first
5 pounds in the first week. T
hen it was slower and more gradual after that... about a pound per week.

Even in a Keto
diet, your body gradually adapts and it takes longer over time.

I’m fine with that and was expecting it. If I achieve most or all of my goal by the time I have my followup visit with my doctor, I’ll be happy.
T
he fact that I’m eating little or nothing sweet and few
things that are very salty
suggests that I should keep gradually losing weight as long as I stick with it, pair it with some exercise and don’t ‘cheat’.

I’m on the keto wagon too, I’ve been doing it since July of last year, it is entirely worth it. Those cravings really do go away after a while. Keep up the good work

Be very careful with Keto, I know quite a few people that did it and lost a lot of weight, but if you stop you will gain it back FAST. Your body will start storing carbs very aggressively if you introduce them again.

I believe the key is that once I’ve achieved my goal, to not go crazy with the carbs.
For example... if I’m gonna have cake, then I have to skip the pasta/rice... or vice versa.
If I get a burger (carbs in the bun), then I get salad with it... no fries or onion rings.
If I’m having beer, then no nachos. If I want nachos, no beer.
And of course, keep an eye on my weight at least weekly.

Great to hear some progress. I find that my body stays the same. I drink/eat more? 73kg. I go overseas for 5 weeks, drastically changing my routine in terms of exercise and food? 73kg. I try to cut back, drink less? 73kg.
I guess it’s nice but it would be nice to see some progress when I expect to. Can’t change anything if you never see progress.
Good on you!

Yeah, don’t cheat on Keto diets, it slows them down significantly

I’m on the “ don’t buy food so I’ll have less tasty food around to eat so I’ll eat less” diet. It’s not quite anorexia (I am eating), but it’s probably not healthy (buying groceries once a month really cuts down on fresh fruit and veggies). On the other hand, I lost 35 pounds (though I’m back up 8 so need to keep at it, hopefully combined with more exercise now that the weather is nice). I could stand to lose another 70 or so, but even going down 40 from where I am would put me down around the lowest I’ve been in a decade. I think it’s doable.

How much is that in terms of percentage where you started?
For me, I’m down about 12.5 pounds now... 6.25% of my starting weight (200lbs).

I started at 235, so s bit under 10%

I did ask for a very aggressive diet, and also one that was fit for a very sedentary lifestyle like I have.
So its mostly protein and veggies. I only eat carbs in the morning.
